Masters Message March 2008 Brethren, We are so proud of our members who have succeeded in other Masonic circles. Sr. Warden Burl Dean was elected to President of the Society of Past Masters of Northern Kentucky, while Bro. Bobby Crittendon was elected 2nd Vice President. Bro. George Baker is currently serving as High Priest of Temple Royal Arch Chapter, and all three are “appointed” officers under our own Keith Dreier, Grand Master of Masons. It is certainly unusual for so many to be honored from one lodge, but Henry Barnes Lodge has always produced great Masonic leadership. Congratulations to each. “Good job!” Guest speaker Ed Vardiman could not be with us at our February meeting do to an accident. We wish him a speedy recovery, and hope that he can be with us soon. Our good news however, is that we have three petitions to be acted upon. James Spencer and Johnnie Spurlock signed the petition of Mr. Jerry L. Ennis, while Bros Bill Branch and Nolan Rose brought in petitions for Misters William Lee Branch and Todd Lee Houston. Brother Harold Moermond has a petition for his son, and one for his grandson to turn in. (a total of 5!). Our Mason of the Month for March is our dedicated brother Paul Sheldon, a real ”work horse” for Henry Barnes Lodge. “Congratulations Paul!!”The Officers have been very busy making visitations to other lodges. This is not only good fellowship, but is helping us to obtain the Grand Master’s Award. We received an invite from Newport Lodge (Sixth and Park Sts.) for the Barnestormers to portray the “Legend of the Temple” on Saturday, March 1.at 2:00 pm; with supper served approx. 5:30 pm. Plans also include a visit to Mayo Lodge on March 4; and Robert Burns Lodge on March 19. I hope that many of you can make one or more of these visits. Special events include our Super Breakfast on March 2, Masonic Leadership Conference in Covington on March 15, Moyers Winery on March 29 at 12:00 Noon; the Van Dells on May 9 (We have 50 tickets and 42 sold to date) and Renfro Valley on May 31 (See Billy Scolf, Chairman). If you wish to go to Moyer’s Winery, please make reservations and menu selection ($20.00) by March 19 with Debbie Dreier, or myself. As of this writing we still have two individuals who continue to be interested in purchasing our lodge building. As I get the news, so will you. Your Master will be attending a Masonic Leadership Conference in Birmingham, Alabama, along with Fred Bryant and Grand Master Keith Dreier, on March 6 thru 9. Our Sr. Warden, Burl Dean will be in charge of the Lodge.
